Although more and more people are using SNS to gather information about their travel destinations, even in this day and age, we are still interested in the recommendations of local people. In this section, we ask people who work at lodging facilities throughout Japan to introduce points of interest at the lodging facilities where they work and their favorite sightseeing spots in the surrounding area.
For this interview, we spoke with Marta at the front desk of Joshin-no-sato Hibikino in Ikaho Onsen.
Name: Ikaho Onsen Fukuichi
Location: 5-4 Ikahokayu, Ikaho-cho, Shibukawa-shi, Gunma
–Please give us an overview of the facility.
Our inn is located on the top step of the stone staircase in Ikaho and boasts a history of 440 years. The hotel boasts a calm atmosphere of a good old hot spring and a location surrounded by the great nature of Ikaho. We welcome you with our sincere hospitality, including a hot spring bath filled with two famous hot springs, “Kogane” and “Shiragane”, and dishes prepared with the utmost care and skill using carefully selected ingredients from Jyoshu.
–What are some of the highlights or experiences that you would like to see or experience that you can’t find anywhere else?
The view from the top of the stone step street is the best in Ikaho. Last fall, a concept Japanese-style room on the top floor was created as the room closest to the sky in Ikaho. We also offer a variety of other elaborate guest rooms, so you can choose the one that best suits your travel needs. The open-air bath with a beautiful view of the mountains and the breakfast buffet in the dining room with a view are also popular.
–What are your personal recommendations for nearby attractions?
The “Ishidan-gai”, the symbol of Ikaho, is recommended for people of all ages. It is only a 0-minute walk from the hotel. With its abundant gourmet food and amusement facilities, you can enjoy a stroll without losing track of time. Recently, visiting power spots around Ikaho such as “Ikaho Shrine,” “Haruna Shrine,” “Mizusawa Kannon” and “Bukkozan Hosuji Temple” have become popular.
–Finally, any last words for our readers?
Ikaho Onsen, one of the most popular hot springs in Gunma, is not only a historic hot spring resort, but also a wonderful place filled with attractive spots and nature that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Fukuichi offers a variety of plans and guest rooms to make the most of your stay in Ikaho, and we are always updating our website and SNS with information about the area’s attractions, so please take a look and enjoy your trip to Ikaho.
