The Metropolitan Expressway announced traffic congestion forecasts for April and May, including the Golden Week period (April 27-May 6).
Traffic congestion is expected to be heavy on May 3, the first day of the second half of the holiday weekend, as well as on the weekdays of April 19, 25, and 26 before the GW holiday, and on May 2 before the national holiday.
On the Wangan Route, heavy traffic congestion is expected to occur at the Kawasaki Ukishima JCT, leading to a significant increase in transit time. Traffic congestion is expected to start earlier than usual at the exits around leisure spots such as Kasai, Sachiura, and Minatomirai on the Yokohane Line, and the use of the Airport West Exit on the No. 1 Haneda Line is recommended when heading to Haneda Airport from the Tokyo area.
In addition, to prevent and alleviate traffic congestion, the company is calling for changes in the days and times of use, checking traffic information, and keeping a distance of “2 seconds” between vehicles.
