Hoshino Resort’s nationwide brand of onsen ryokan, “Kai,” has announced the opening of “Kai Okuhida,” Hoshino Resort’s first foray into Gifu Prefecture, on September 5. Reservations for the hotel will begin today, April 17.
The concept of the hotel is “to be awakened by mountain hot springs and to relax in Hida design. The hotel will offer guests a stay where they can feel the real pleasure of hot springs in the mountains and experience the culture of the Hida region, where the skills of master craftsmen shine through. In addition to enjoying the hot spring baths in the large bathrooms and the open-air baths in the guest rooms, guests will be able to enjoy the pleasures of the hot spring village through the footbaths in the courtyard, alleyways, street spaces, and a pathway leading to the guest rooms and apartments.
In the “Hida MOKU Room,” a local room where guests can relax in the gentleness of wood, a modern headboard covers the guestroom’s sleeping area, inspired by Hida woodworking techniques, and windows and terrace offer magnificent views of the hotel’s courtyard and the Hida Mountains. Of the 49 local rooms in total, 28 rooms have an open-air bath on the terrace.
Dinner is served in a semi-private room style dining room. The special kaiseki menu includes “Hida beef grilled with Hoba-boiled stove” and other dishes that make the most of the local culinary culture.
