The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of Ukraine for up to 13 billion yen for “Emergency Economic Reconstruction and Development Policy Loan” on May 16, connecting Tokyo and Kiev online.
This project supports Ukraine, which is facing an economic crisis due to the military invasion, by providing financial assistance through co-financing with the World Bank to help the country implement economic policy reforms, including institutional reforms for de-monopolization and anti-corruption, strengthening of land and financial markets, and strengthening of social security systems. By implementing various institutional reforms, the project aims to contribute to the promotion of Ukraine’s socio-economic stability and development efforts, thereby contributing to SDGs Goal 3 (health and well-being for all), 8 (job satisfaction and economic growth), and 16 (peace and justice for all).
