The City of Venice will begin to collect a €5 per day entry tax on a trial basis on April 25. The tax will be applied to visitors to the old center of Venice on 29 designated days per year on a daily basis. Those who stay overnight in Venice are not eligible.
Payment can be made in advance at the “Dedicated Venice Island Entry Tax Website”. After entering the island entry tax registration and visit information and paying with a credit card or other means, a QR code can be obtained. The QR code will be checked by the inspector, and a fine of 50 to 300 euros plus a 10 euro island entry tax will be imposed for non-payment.
Locally, payment can also be made at Venice Central Station (Santa Lucia Station) and Piazzale Roma, at designated automatic service machines, and at Tabaccaio (tobacco shops). WhatsApp users can also pay from the app by scanning the designated 2D barcode.
Information in Japanese on the island entry tax is available on ENIT’s (formerly the Italian National Tourist Office) NOTE.
