Keihin Electric Express Railway and the Tokyo Metropolitan Transportation Bureau announced that they will start a demonstration experiment of a credit card touch payment boarding service by the end of 2024.
Passengers can enter and exit the station by touching their card or smart phone with the card to the terminal at the dedicated automatic ticket gate or ticket gate counter. This will be a cooperative effort between the two companies, and will also allow passengers to board between the Keikyu Main Line and the Toei Asakusa Line.
The six accepted brands are Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay, with Mastercard to be added in the future.
The stations to be covered include Keikyu stations on the Airport Line, including Keikyu Kamata Station, as well as Shinagawa and Yokohama stations. The Toei Subway will be targeting about 20 stations on the Asakusa and Oedo lines, but specific station names have not been disclosed and will be announced in the future.
