On May 13, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta, Indonesia, for a loan of up to 140,699 million yen for the East-West Line Project (Phase 1) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Area Urban Rapid Transit Project. The project is designed to reduce traffic congestion by reducing the number of vehicles in the area and by reducing the number of cars in the area. This project is to construct an urban rapid transit system (MRT) connecting the center of Jakarta to the east and west in the Jakarta metropolitan area, where traffic congestion is serious. The project aims to meet the increasing demand for transportation and to shift the modal shift from cars and motorcycles to public transportation, thereby reducing traffic congestion, improving the living and investment environment, reducing environmental impacts, and contributing to the fight against climate change. (Create a sustainable city) and Goal 13 (Take concrete measures against climate change) of the SDGs. Signing ceremony Signing ceremony
