The Nezumi-kun no Chokki Exhibition Executive Committee will hold the exhibition “50th Anniversary Nezumi-kun no Chokki Exhibition: Yoshio Nakae and Noriko Ueno’s Imagination’s Departures” at Matsuya Ginza 8th Floor Event Square (Ginza 3-6-1, Chuo-ku, Tokyo). The exhibition will be held from May 22 to June 3.
In addition to exhibiting approximately 200 original drawings, rough sketches, and other items from all of the “Nezumi-kun” picture book series, there will be a three-dimensional and semi-three-dimensional photo spot and a hands-on corner where visitors can create their own original Nezumi-kun picture book. Tickets are available at Asobu.
The exhibition traces the 50-year history of the series from “Nezumi-kun no Chokki” published by Poplar Publishing Co. in 1974. The exhibition includes the background of the series, an introduction to the process of creating picture books after the death of Noriko Ueno, who was in charge of the illustrations, and a 50th anniversary commemorative video featuring the author Yoshiyoshi Nakae and Nezumi-kun together.
The “Nezumi-kun Shop” at the exhibition site will also sell over 200 items, including original goods, catalogues, and pre-sale goods from the exhibition. The lineup includes “Fluffy Plush Nezumi-kun/Nemi-chan S Size” (3190 yen each), “Campus Art” (3 types, 2750 yen each), “Large Shopping Bag” (2090 yen), “Mini Campus Magnet” (41 types, 770 yen each), “Matsuzaki-Sembei 3-Pack” (702 yen), “Nezumi-kun Jockey” (1980 yen). A new book, “Nezumi-kun kara okurimono” (1,430 yen), commemorating the 50th anniversary, was also published on May 10.
