DiDi Mobility Japan will launch a series of transportation services using private cars (Japanese-style ride-sharing) in cooperation with cab companies in areas where cabs are in short supply, starting in early June.
Areas covered are Hokkaido, Miyagi, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Aichi, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, and Okinawa.
The company will update its passenger app, driver app, and management system to support ridesharing, and will also provide support for recruiting rideshare drivers.
In addition, the company aims to improve manners and reduce problems in the car through a mutual evaluation function between passengers and drivers, and to improve safety through a function to make emergency calls to the police and other authorities in the event of an emergency.
