As part of the “Outer Moat Purification Project,” the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will project approximately 8 minutes of digital art content onto the outer moat of Edo Castle through projection mapping. The project will run for four days from May 30 to June 2, with continuous screenings from 19:30 to 21:00.
The contents are based on the motif of Utagawa Hiroshige’s “Meisho Edo hyakkei” (One hundred Famous Views of Edo), and include digital animations of scenes of Edo bustling with cherry blossom viewing and festivals, Nishikigoi carp, and flowers.
The “Outer Moat Purification Project” is an initiative to revive Tokyo as the “City of Water” by improving the water quality of the historical asset, the outer moat. The projection mapping project aims to raise awareness of the project through the collaboration of digital technology and traditional culture.
