Disney Resort Line, the monorail that operates within Tokyo Disney Resort, announced that it will introduce tickets using 2D codes from the summer of 2025 onward.
By the end of 2026, magnetic tickets will be replaced by two-dimensional code-based tickets. The applicable ticket types are ordinary tickets, commuter passes, group tickets, and free tickets.
With the introduction of two-dimensional code-based tickets, passengers will be able to use the ticket by holding it over the reader of the automatic ticket gate. This eliminates the need to insert the ticket into the automatic ticket gate, allowing for a smoother ride, and also allows for the continued use of traffic-system IC cards.
In addition, the paper used for tickets has been changed to paper that reduces environmental impact. Magnetic tickets, which require separation and disposal of the magnetic layer, will be eliminated to make them easier to recycle.
Prior to the renewal of automatic ticket gates, renovation work to widen the aisle width of automatic ticket gates at all stations will be carried out by the end of FY2024. The aisles will be widened by approximately 1.5 times, making stations more comfortable for a variety of users, including those in wheelchairs and with baby strollers.
