On July 12, the three NEXCO companies announced a revision of the late-night discount on expressways, which is scheduled to become operational around the end of FY2024.
In light of the current situation of vehicle congestion waiting for the late-night discount to be applied, the discount will be extended to cover the portion of the fare driven during the applicable time period, and to reduce the burden on truck drivers.
The discount system has been changed to a later redemption to “ETC Mileage Service” or “ETC Corporate Card”. When passing through, the regular fare will be charged and the discount will be returned on the 20th of the following month. The routes covered will remain unchanged, and 30% of the total amount of travel will be discounted on flat fare sections and other routes.
In addition, in order to reduce the increased burden of tolls on long-distance users, the long-distance toll reduction system will be expanded in conjunction with this review. The maximum toll rate will be reduced from the current 30% to 40% for distances longer than 400 km, 45% for distances longer than 600 km, and 50% for distances longer than 800 km.
