JTB Publishing will release the 12th edition of its timetable reprint, “Timetable Reprint November 1986,” on July 22, 1986, in B5 format, priced at 2,750 yen.
This is a reprint of the November 1986 issue of “Kotsu Kosha no Timetable” supervised by Japan National Railways (JNR), the predecessor of the monthly magazine “JTB Timetable”, as it was then, excluding advertisements. This was the last major revision of the JNR timetable before the split-up and privatization of Japan Railways on April 1 of the following year, and it includes the timetables of all the lines in Japan that were used as a base before the inauguration of the JR companies.
This book is a nostalgic look back at the time when the transportation system was improved, including the increased speed of the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines, the limited express “Kita-Kinki” (now “Konotori”) between Shin-Osaka and Osaka and Kinosaki (now Kinosaki Onsen) that began operation with the full electrification of the Fukuchiyama Line, increased express trains in various regions and commuter trains in the metropolitan areas.
The cover comes with a cover, making it easy to store the book as a reference work. The cover of the book with the cover removed is a reproduction of the design as it was at the time.
