Cambodia Signs Yen Loan Agreement: Supporting the Development of the Southern Economic Corridor, a Major Artery in the Mekong Region | News / Media

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Yen Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia on July 19 in Phnom Penh for the “National Highway No. 5 Rehabilitation Project (Sreama Am – Battambang and Sisopong – Poipet) (Phase III)”. A Loan Agreement (L/A) was signed for the “Sreamaam – Battambang and Sisopon – Poipet (Phase III)” project. The outline of the project is as follows

Business Objectives

This project aims to improve and widen the existing road between Sreeramaam and Battambang and between Sisopon and Poipet on National Highway No. 5, which connects the capital Phnom Penh and the Thai border, as well as to build a bypass, thereby enhancing the transportation capacity of this road and facilitating logistics between Thailand and Cambodia, thereby contributing to the promotion of Cambodia’s economic development. (a) Civil works (repair and widening of existing roads (total length: approx. 134 km), construction of bypass roads (total length: approx. 12 km), new bridges (8) and replacement (25), installation of median strip (3 m wide, all sections), installation of vehicle weight scale equipment (6)), installation of traffic safety facilities (international competitive bidding)

(b) Consulting services (detailed design, bidding assistance, construction supervision, human resource development and organizational strengthening, etc.) (short list method)
