World Trade Center Building” redevelopment at the west exit of Hamamatsucho Station; Raffles Hotel to open for the first time in Japan; scheduled to open in 2028

The World Trade Center Building, Kajima Corporation, Tokyo Monorail, and East Japan Railway Company announced on July 22 that the “World Trade Center Building Main Building and Terminal” reconstruction project, a redevelopment of the west exit of Hamamatsucho Station, will open sequentially from March 2027.

In this area (Hamamatsucho 2-Chome District 4), functions such as offices, hotels, commercial facilities, conferences, medical facilities, pre-experience tourism facilities, residences, and an arts center are being developed over approximately 180,000m2 in District A (World Trade Center Building), District B (Nippon Seimei Hamamatsucho Clare Tower), and District C. The project is currently under construction.

In Area A, the South Wing will open first in 2021. The main building and terminal will feature Accor’s premier luxury hotel “Raffles Tokyo” (130 rooms, scheduled to open in 2028), which will be the first hotel in Japan, commercial facilities operated by ATRE, the World Medical Center, conferences, and tourist pre-experience facilities.

The project will also include a central plaza that will be integrated with Hamamatsucho Station, a station core that will facilitate transfers between JR, monorail, subway, buses, cabs, and other transportation systems, and a rooftop garden that will be visually connected to the adjacent former Shiba-Rikyu Gardens.
