JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with First Vice President Estefan Brunel Naybik and other key ministers from the Republic of Costa Rica who visited Japan on August 7 at JICA Global Plaza.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Tanaka mentioned that this year marked the 50th anniversary of JICA’s cooperation with the Republic of Costa Rica, which shares various values with Japan, such as peace and environmental conservation, and thanked the Costa Rican side for their past support.
In response, First Vice President Brunel expressed his appreciation for JICA’s cooperation in the Republic of Costa Rica and mentioned the importance of Japan’s cooperation through people-to-people contacts that have made possible so many human exchanges over the past 50 years.
In addition, the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for further collaboration in the future, particularly in the areas of Women Peace and Security (WPS), Blue Economy, and Green Economy.
