On August 9, JICA Vice President Katsura Miyazaki met with Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, who visited Japan for the 12th Japan-Vietnam Cooperation Committee Meeting, at JICA Headquarters.
At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President Miyazaki mentioned the historic milestone of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam last year, when the bilateral relationship was upgraded to a “comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world”. He also stated that he would like to further promote contributions through ODA projects to further develop the relationship between Japan and Vietnam to a higher level.
In response, Foreign Minister Son expressed his gratitude for Japan’s cooperation over the years, including in infrastructure development such as the “Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Construction Project (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien (Line 1)”, and his desire to continue to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
Afterwards, Foreign Minister Son and Vice President Miyazaki exchanged views on the promotion of ongoing cooperation projects and new candidate areas for future cooperation such as Digital Transformation (DX) and Green Transformation (GX).
