Hotel Metropolitan (1-6-1 Nishi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo), operated by JR East Hotels, will sell “Suica no Penguin Marron Cake” from September 1 to November 30.
The size is 8 cm in diameter. The cake and bakery store on the first floor will offer take-out for 720 yen, while the all-day dining restaurant “Crossdine” will offer eat-in items for 1,000 yen and cake sets for 1,800 yen.
The cake consists of marron bavarois and chestnuts stewed in the astringent skin of Kasama chestnuts, wrapped in a chocolate mousse made with “Guanara,” a 70% cocoa chocolate produced by Valrhona of France. The mousse is smooth with a moderate sweetness, and the chestnut biscuits and chocolate cookies provide a delightful harmony of marron and chocolate.
