Lime launched Lime, an electric micromobility sharing service, in Japan.
The first phase of the project will involve the installation of more than 40 ports (bicycle parking lots) in six areas in Tokyo’s Shibuya, Shinjuku, Meguro, Setagaya, Toshima, and Nakano wards, with a total of 200 electric micromobility vehicles (to be expanded gradually).
Electric kickboards and other equipment at ports around town can be reserved and ridden via a dedicated app, and returned to a port near their destination.
In addition to electric kickboards, the company will also offer “electric seatboards,” which are a type of seatboard. In addition, the service employs the “Helmet Selfie” safety enhancement measure, which allows users to send a photo of themselves wearing a helmet via the application to receive discounts on fees and other benefits, and to celebrate the launch of the service, the regular rate is 30 yen/minute with no basic fee until the end of September.
