JR West will introduce “Kaisoku Oshiroshito,” a paid seating service, on its Kobe, Nara, and Sanyo Lines from October, and “Shinkaisoku A Seat” will be temporarily available on the JR Kobe, JR Kyoto, and Biwako Lines during consecutive holidays in October and November.
Sanyo Line will newly establish Ureshito between Iwakuni and Gokaichi/Hiroshima on October 5 for one “Commuter Liner” during weekday morning commuting hours and two “City Liners” on weekends.
On the Kobe and Nara Lines, new trains will be installed on some trains during morning commuting hours from October 7.
The Osaka-Higashi and Yamato routes will also be expanded to include some trains during evening commuting and school hours. In both cases, the reserved seat fee is the same for all sections: 530 yen for regular season and 330 yen for off-peak season. Ticketless reserved seat tickets are 300 yen.
Ureshito is a service that designates the area near the rear of the last car of the train as a paid area, and also designates seats in the paid area as reserved seats. The paid area is available only to holders of reserved-seat tickets, and a “curtain” is set up to separate the area.
In addition, the A-seat trains, which make six round trips per day on the Kobe, Kyoto, and Biwako Lines, will make one extra round trip between Yasu and Himeji Stations on three consecutive holidays in October and November. The dates of operation are October 12-14, November 2-4, and 23-24. The fare for reserved seats is 840 yen for the entire route, and 600 yen for ticket-less seats.
Reserved seat tickets go on sale at 10:00 a.m. one month prior to the operation date. Tickets can be purchased through JR West’s online reservation service “e5489” or at Midorino ticket vending machines at stations.
