Uber flies helicopters! If you win the first prize in a raffle, you can experience a “helicopter tour over Tokyo” immediately at the weekend-only event “Uber Flyer’s Club” held August 23-25.

Then, upon arrival, they sign a consent form on the spot to experience a 15-minute scenic flight in a helicopter. On the way on the ground, you will be able to see the city center and Rainbow Bridge, and on the scenic flight, you will be able to see the Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Sky Tree, and other spectacular sights.

At the event site, a free “Gacha Gacha” was set up, and the winner of the first prize (or group of winners) will be taken directly to the “Tokyo Heliport” in Shin-Kiba, a 40-minute ride on the Metropolitan Expressway from Shinjuku to the “Uber Premium Vehicle,” a hired car that is larger than a regular cab.

A pop-up venue will be set up for this three-day weekend only at the commercial facility “Sanagi-Shinjuku” located under the elevated railway tracks, a one-minute walk from the southeast exit of JR Shinjuku Station, to promote the “Uber” (Android/iOS version) car delivery app that can be easily called as a means of transportation within Tokyo.

Uber Japan is holding “Uber Flyer’s Club,” a limited-time event for enjoying the streets of Tokyo by cab and helicopter, from today, August 23 to 25.

Actual Ride! Hire Transfer & Helicopter Scenic Flight

From the event venue “Sanagi-Shinjuku”, we immediately boarded an Uber Premium vehicle to “Tokyo Heliport”. The van type vehicle that was dispatched this time can accommodate up to six passengers and features spacious and comfortable seats with a luxurious feel. The ride lasts about 40 minutes in the cool cabin while enjoying the view of the city center.

Upon arrival at the Tokyo Heliport, you will be briefed by staff on precautions and sign a consent form (name, address, age, weight, etc.). Before boarding the helicopter, you will also have time for a commemorative photo in front of the aircraft. Up to four people (one in the front and three in the back) can experience the helicopter ride at one time. After strapping on a seatbelt and headphones, it is time to depart for the skies over Tokyo!

In the 15 minutes of the scenic course, the boat passed Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Tower, the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Station, Sumida River, Tokyo Sky Tree, Sensoji Temple, Ryogoku Kokugikan, Ueno Onshi Park, Tokyo Dome, and Haneda Airport, all of which are landmarks that symbolize Tokyo. In the distance, the Ferris wheel at Kasai Rinkai Park and Tokyo Disney Resort were also visible. The highest altitude reached about 700 meters, higher than the 634-meter Tokyo Sky Tree.

Incidentally, Takumi Enterprises (TAKUMI ENTERPRISE) is in charge of the flight for this event, and the pilot wearing an original Uber cap also gave us a brief guide through a set of headphones, saying, “What you see on the right hand side is~. The strange sensation of floating in the air and the spectacular view spread out in front of you was truly a premium experience.

The first prize winner can enjoy such a cruise in the center of Tokyo for free on the same day. If you can’t make it on the day of the event and can’t go even if you win the first prize, you will receive an original Uber Flyer’s Club cushion and an Uber Taxi discount ticket. If you can’t make it, you can get an original Uber Flyer’s Club cushion or a discount coupon for an Uber Taxi.

The second prize is an “original hand towel” and the third prize is an “original PET bottle cover. Even if you don’t win, you will receive an “original fan with Uber Taxi discount coupon” as a participation prize.

In addition, propeller-mounted Uber Taxis and photo booths will be set up at the event site, where visitors can enjoy free photo-taking with original frames showing the view over Tokyo with a green background.

According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, the number of foreign visitors to Japan reached a record high in June, and spending in Japan is expected to reach 8 trillion yen by 2024. As for Uber, which is used in more than 70 countries around the world, as of July, the number of foreigners using the Uber app in Japan has surged five-fold compared to 2022.

This is why we have come up with a plan to offer a more premium experience to people in Japan and overseas by using Uber, which offers convenience and comfort. The plan proposes an upgraded summer sightseeing experience in Tokyo by taking passengers from a cab on the ground to a helicopter in the sky.

The “Uber Premium” service, which can be selected from within the Uber app, allows users to call premium vehicles such as the Alphard and Vellfire as if they were cabs. The service can accommodate up to five passengers and carry a large amount of baggage, and is recommended for domestic and international travelers. The service allows users to select a destination, request a ride, make a payment, and even chat with the driver before boarding.

In conjunction with the event, a campaign offering up to 30% off Uber Taxi rides in the Tokyo area (up to 1,500 yen) is being offered until September 30. Enter the promotion code “TOKYORIDE24” when booking a ride on the app to receive the discount.

Eligible vehicle types are Taxi, Premium, Large Wagon Premium (Premier Van), and EV Premium (Premier EV). The only payment method is through the app (excluding Apple Pay).
