docomo Bike Share will launch the “Izumo Share Cycle Yuien” shared cycle service in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, on September 1.
The project is a demonstration experiment designed to relieve public transportation congestion caused by the increase in the number of tourists. In addition to tourists, the project also aims to provide a means of transportation for citizens touring around the city, promote cycle tourism, and increase secondary transportation options.
The service will be available from September 1 at 9:00 a.m. to November 30, 2012, with 15 bicycles and five ports (Izumo City Station, Izumo Taisha-mae Station, JR Oda Station, JR Shobara Station, and GARB CLIFF TERRACE Izumo).
Fees are 220 yen per hour and 110 yen for each additional 30 minutes. 1-day pass with IC card is 1,100 yen. To use the service, an account on docomo’s “Bike Share Service” application is required.
