Mr. Masaharu Tsuge of Korean Air and Mr. Chizu Takaoka of the Portuguese National Tourist Office took the stage at the seminar and introduced the connection schedule and methods for the Incheon (Seoul) – Lisbon route, which will be newly launched on September 11, as well as Portugal’s attractions and recommended plans.
The Portuguese National Tourist Office and Korean Air held a tourism seminar in Portugal on August 28.
New Incheon-Lisbon route to take less than 20 hours one-way
Until now, there have been no direct flights from East Asia to Lisbon, but with the launch of the Incheon-Lisbon route on September 11, passengers will be able to fly from Japan to Portugal via South Korea.
One of the advantages of flying via Seoul is that the round trip time can be reduced to 18 hours and 50 minutes for the outbound and 16 hours and 40 minutes for the inbound, compared to 20 hours or more for the outbound and 19 hours or more for the inbound via the Middle East. In addition, transit time is about 1.5 hours, with a minimum of 45 minutes.
Flights are available three days a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays in both summer and winter. According to Mr. Tsuge, the flight to Lisbon is set to depart from Incheon International Airport at 1:10 p.m., making it possible to make connections at Incheon from anywhere in Japan. Another advantage is that the flight departs from Lisbon in the evening, allowing passengers to continue their sightseeing schedule into the night.
For the return trip, only Haneda offers same-day connections from Incheon to Japan, while others offer next-day connections. Since the flight can enter Korea without a visa, he said, he hopes that passengers will stay overnight and enjoy sightseeing.
In addition to the Incheon-Lisbon route, Korean Air also offers flights to European cities via Seoul. The advantage of connecting at Incheon is that there is no need to move between terminals, and after disembarking, passengers can easily reach their destination by following the green transfer signs.
Tickets are issued in Japan for Seoul to the final destination, so for connecting flights, you only need to go through the security check and follow the green directions to the boarding gate on the 3rd floor to make your connection. If you do not have a ticket for your connecting flight, it can be issued at the transit counter.
In addition, while waiting for your connection in the airport, you can use the transit hotel, capsule hotel, and hotel inside the security gate, as well as relaxing chairs, charging outlets (free charging area), nap zone (napping area), and shower rooms. Furthermore, if you have a long transit time, you can join a free transit tour once you enter the country.
The aircraft is a Boeing 787-9, and even in economy class, the pitch between the seat in front of you and the seat in front of you is 81cm.
In addition to developing allergy-friendly and vegan meals in response to diversifying customer requests, the airline also accepts pre-orders for business class meals. Mr. Tsuge recommends bibimbap.
Furthermore, the company offers multilingual support in case of any problems, and can respond in Japanese from any region. In addition to phone calls, inquiries can also be made via chat via the website or app.
