Navitime Japan launched a “Disaster Prevention Day Special” page on its “NAVITIME” and “NAVITIME for Sugotoku” navigation applications on August 28.
The “Disaster Prevention Day Special” page explains how to check hazard maps and evacuation sites in the area, as well as the search function for walking routes to home.
In addition, a quiz with eight questions on disaster prevention is provided, showing what to do in the event of an earthquake at work, on a train, in a car, or on the road.
The “Hazard Map” covers seven types of hazards: floods and inundation, mudslides, landslides, storm surges, tsunamis, and avalanches, and allows users to check caution points around their homes and workplaces on a map. When the user switches to the map after searching for a route to his/her home or evacuation shelter, he/she can check the caution areas along with the evacuation route.
Furthermore, it is said that it is easier to ensure safety by choosing a main street in the event of a disaster, and a function that gives priority to main streets has been added to the route search that specifies walking. In the “NAVITIME for SUGOTOKU” walking route, “standard,” “short distance,” “many roofs,” and “few stairs” are now supported, allowing users to select from five different routes.
