As part of the “GRAND CYCLE TOKYO” project, a bicycle initiative by the Bureau of Lifestyle, Culture and Sports, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will hold the “Rainbow Ride” event on December 1, 2012, in which participants will ride through the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Gate Bridge by bicycle.
The event will run on the Metropolitan Expressway and public roads in the waterfront area (Odaiba, Umi-no-Mori, Wakasu, etc.), and traffic regulations will be enforced in conjunction with the event.
Regulation hours for ordinary roads are from around 6:00 to 13:00, and for the Metropolitan Expressway from around 4:00 to 14:00. The red line in the attached chart is the section scheduled to be closed to vehicular traffic. The Metropolitan Expressway will close the No. 11 Daiba line from Ariake JCT to Shibaura JCT, so the Daiba entrance and Shibaura PA (uphill) will also be unavailable.
In addition, the company also announced that local buses and airport buses will be suspended or delayed as a result of the traffic restrictions.
