Ichikawa Misato Town in Yamanashi Prefecture reopened the urban park “Ichikawa Park” (947-3 Inzawa, Ichikawa Misato Town, Nishiyashiro-gun, Yamanashi Prefecture) on October 6. The park is managed by Yamanashi MTB Yamamorito.
The 6.2-hectare site in the mountains near the city was renovated over a period of about six months from its jungle-like state of being covered with grass, trees, and bamboo to include new affordable mountain biking (MTB) and camping fields, playground equipment, and other facilities.
MTBs require initial registration (with safety training, for a fee) to practice solid and safe riding skills before taking to the field. 8 full-scale courses totaling 1632m, ranging from a 70m pump track course to a 125m beginner course and a 654m intermediate course, are available for rent, and state-of-the-art Electric-assist MTBs are available in a wide variety of sizes.
There are three camp sites in the park (total area: 1504m2). Visitors can spend time in the abundant nature, enjoying BBQ, insect collecting, etc., and can also enjoy MTB as a set. Families as well as solo campers and day-trippers are welcome.
Both are closed on Tuesdays in summer and Tuesdays and Wednesdays in winter, but regular walks in the park are available even on closed days. The observatory at the top of the mountain offers a spectacular view of the Kofu Basin.
