Grant Aid Gift Agreement Signed for Afghanistan: Contributing to Community Development through Participation of Local Residents in Collaboration with UN-Habitat | News & PR

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) on October 15 at JICA Headquarters for the “Living Environment Improvement Program for Urban Vulnerable Populations (UN-Cooperation/UN-Habitat Implementation). The Grant Agreement (G/A) was signed with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) at JICA Headquarters.

Business Objectives

This project aims to improve the living environment of urban vulnerable groups in Kabul and Herat provinces, where the population influx is increasing, by rehabilitating living infrastructure and social service facilities (health and medical facilities, water and sanitation facilities, road rehabilitation, etc.) and providing related equipment, taking into consideration the opinions of various people and disaster risks, thereby The project will contribute to ensuring healthy lives and sustainable and self-reliant development of the Afghan people.

Business

  1. rehabilitation of living infrastructure and social service facilities (rehabilitation of health and medical facilities and water and sanitation facilities and provision of materials and equipment, rehabilitation of roads for living)
  2. community capacity building (e.g., community development planning through participatory participation of residents)

Maximum Amount of Provision

1,166 million yen

Scheduled implementation period

36 months

The project will be completed at the end of all activities (scheduled for September 2027).
