Delta Air Lines has unveiled a new cabin design in advance of its 100th anniversary in 2025. Based on customer feedback and research, Delta has redesigned the cabin, including seat materials and lighting, to create a more modern and relaxing environment. The new cabin design will be introduced on narrow-body Boeing 757 aircraft this fall, and will be introduced on wide-body Airbus A350 aircraft used on Japan routes in early 2025.
Business Class “Delta One” seats will be replaced with soft, breathable fabric seats made of a wool and nylon blend. They are lighter than the current seat covers and better able to regulate body temperature, making it easier to relax on board.
Delta Premium Select” Premium Economy Class and First Class (U.S. domestic flights) seats are equipped with new seat covers made of breathable man-made leather over memory foam cushions.
In addition, the seat colors in the economy class “main cabin” and the more spacious “Delta Comfort Plus” seats, which are more spacious than those in economy, have been redesigned and are now made of man-made leather with distinctive stitching and stripes. On international wide-body aircraft, memory foam cushions have also been integrated to enhance comfort.
Lighting is newly designed to bring a sense of unity and calm to the cabin. Mood lighting tailored to each phase of the flight, such as during boarding, meal and rest times, and before arrival, will enhance acclimatization to the time difference.
The partition walls between cabins will be redesigned from the current white plaid pattern to a deep gray celestial pattern. Delta One and Delta Premium Select wide-body aircraft will also display the cabin brand name.
In addition, the cabin features soft, warm colors of wool and other natural materials, accented with Delta’s brand colors, and the restrooms have been refreshed with materials and design that keep them bright and clean.
