JR West announced that it will review its commuter pass sales method and omit confirmation of student identification at the time of promotion from December 1.
In the past, students were required to present their student ID card or other proof of enrollment when renewing their commuter commuter commuter pass. The new system will allow students to purchase commuter passes at Midori-no-Ticket Vending Machines until their graduation. The applicable commuter passes are magnetic commuter passes and ICOCA commuter passes sold by the company.
In addition, commuter passes for junior high and high school students will be handled by “Mobile ICOCA” from the spring of 2025. Until now, only card-type commuter passes were available, but now parents and guardians will be able to purchase commuter passes without standing in line at the station counter by entering their credit card or other payment card information through proxy payment.
