Japan has contributed to the economic and social development of many countries and regions through the provision of Official Development Assistance (ODA), but what characterizes Japanese cooperation is not the size of the amount of cooperation. The greatest feature of Japan’s cooperation is not the one-way transfer of technology or the provision of funds, but the fact that Japanese people have worked together to create innovative solutions to the challenges faced by developing countries and the international community by working together and thinking together with the people of the partner country.
And the relationships built through working together have engendered trust in Japan and the Japanese people, which is now an asset for us in an international society that is increasingly divided and confrontational.
In this seminar, Professor Shoei Iriyama of Waseda University, who is also active in various media, will introduce and unravel the experiences of two development projects actually implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in developing countries, and discuss with participants the factors necessary to bring about social change (social innovation) to solve increasingly complex social issues. The session will discuss with participants the factors necessary to bring about social change (social innovation) to solve increasingly complex social issues.
The content will be helpful not only to those who are interested in developing countries or considering international cooperation as a career, but also to those who are interested in solving social issues. We look forward to your participation!
