Dracula Walk: “188 Landmarks Compiled” by a gaggle of people! Why are they addicted to it? We asked SQUANI’s management.

Cannot be obtained without going to the site! What is a Dracula Walk “Souvenir” Landmark?

The game application “Dragon Quest Walk” (Dracula Walk) is packed with features that make you want to go out and do some light walking, partly because it utilizes the location information of your smartphone. Among these, the “souvenir” (landmark) function has become a strong favorite among travel enthusiasts.

There are four landmarks in each province (188 locations in total) where you can obtain “souvenirs” from the Dracula Walk, which can be obtained by tapping on the screen and solving a simple quest. These “souvenirs” do not increase experience or strengthen the party, but they can be purchased for a fee and sent to fellow players (friends), making them useful for small exchanges between players.

Many of the landmarks are located in places that are difficult to reach, such as “deep in the mountains where cell phone reception is harsh,” “in the most remote and unexplored areas,” and “on remote islands,” and this also stimulates the desire to complete the game. Some players, who were not originally interested in sightseeing trips, even go there to collect “souvenirs. It seems that the Dracula Walk is contributing to the promotion of tourism in various regions.

Square Enix, the operator of Dracula Walk, continues to propose various ways to enjoy outings that are not limited to “defeating monsters and earning experience,” such as the “Dragon Quest Walking vol. 3 Kyushu” held at Greenland (Arao City, Kumamoto Prefecture) on November 15-16. The company continues to propose various ways to enjoy outings that go beyond “defeating monsters and earning experience.

Why was the “souvenir” feature included in Dracula Walk, and how is it enjoyed? We spoke with Square Enix, the game’s operator.
