Seibu Railway will conduct a verification experiment of a ride service using credit cards and other touch-sensitive payment methods at 21 stations along the line from December 16, 2012.
The service allows passengers to pass through ticket gates and board trains by using touch-sensitive cards (credit/debit/prepaid cards) or smartphones with such cards installed. Mastercard will be supported in the future.
At participating stations, digital planning tickets using QR codes will also be available.
This initiative will be expanded to approximately 50 stations by March 2026, and to all stations on the Seibu Line (91 stations except Kotake Mukaihara) by March 2027.
