Geotechnologies has released “Edo Castle Reconstruction WALKERS,” an application that allows users to donate to the reconstruction of Edo Castle just by walking. It is available free of charge.
Edo Castle Reconstruction WALKERS is a pedometer application that allows users to earn coins, called senmon, for every 1,000 steps they take. The company will donate to the Association for the Rebuilding of Edo Castle Tenshukaku according to the total amount of coins earned by all users. The animation in the app changes as the user progresses through the stages (13 levels), and 100,000 yen is donated for each stage completed.
The app allows users to sign a petition for the reconstruction, and those who sign the petition will be entered into a campaign to win a set of Big Comics “Rebuilding Edo Castle” volumes 1-3 (signed by the author) for 100 people.
The Association to Reconstruct the Edo Castle Keep is working to rebuild the Kan’eido-Tenshukaku (Edo Castle Keep), which was destroyed by fire in 1657. The association estimates that it can be rebuilt for 50 billion yen, which is expected to have an annual economic impact of 100 billion yen, and appeals that it will also help pass on traditional techniques and consume domestic timber.
