International Emergency Relief Aid for Earthquake in Port Vila, Vanuatu – Supplies

In response to a request from the government of the Republic of Vanuatu, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide emergency relief supplies as follows.

1. damage from the earthquake and tsunami

The December 17 earthquake (M7.3) caused extensive human and material damage in the affected areas.

Damage as of December 21 (as announced by the Vanuatu government)

• Death toll: 12

• Injured 210

• Affected people Approx. 80,000 people

• Collapsed houses Collapsed buildings 10

• Infrastructure Road cuts Bridge damage Landslides, cliff collapses, etc.

1. details of the provision of supplies

(1) Emergency relief supplies (JICA Singapore warehouse)

• plastic container (e.g. gas can, water can or similar)

• water purifier

• power generator

(2) Transportation schedule

Coordinating transportation to Port Vila via close airmail.
