JR East announced that some sections of the Yamanote and Keihin-Tohoku lines will be closed from the first train on April 19, 2025 to around midnight on April 20, 2025 due to track switching work to be carried out near Tamachi Station.
First train on April 20, 2025 – service suspended around 12:00 p.m.
Yamanote Line outbound: Ueno – Tokyo – Osaki Station
Yamanote Line Inner Circuit: Osaki – Tokyo – Ueno Station
Keihin Tohoku Line Namboku Line: Between Higashi-Jujo and Shinagawa Sta.
Other sections of the line will be operated at 40-70% of the normal frequency, and the Keihin Tohoku Line will be stopped at all stations all day (rapid service will be cancelled). If construction work cannot be carried out due to bad weather or other reasons, it will be postponed to May 17-18, but trains will still be suspended as scheduled in that case.
During the construction period, Saikyo Line, Ueno Tokyo Line, and other alternative lines will operate additional trains, and transfer service will be provided to other railroad companies. For details, please refer to the Tamachi Station Track Switching Special Site.
This construction work is part of the “Higashiyamate Route” of the “Haneda Airport Access Line (tentative name)” project, which has been underway since 2023. The new line, together with the “New Access Line,” is scheduled to open in 2031.
