Tateyama Kurobe Kanko will begin operating the Tateyama Tunnel Electric Bus between Murodo and Daikanbo on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route on April 15.
This new vehicle will replace the Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus, which operated for 3.7 km (10 minutes) until November 30, 2024, and is designed to reduce the environmental burden in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. It is also capable of stable driving at high altitudes from Murodo (2,450m above sea level) to Daikanbo (2,316m above sea level).
All eight buses are wrapped in different designs, including Mikurigaike Pond in Murodou-daira and other seasonal scenes representative of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, as well as designs collaborating with the animated film “Wolf Children: Rain and Snow” by Studio Map.
The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is scheduled to be open from April 15 to November 30 in 2025, and events related to the Tateyama Tunnel Electric Bus will be held from June (details will be announced on the special website).
