On January 8 (London local time), Henry & Partners (UK) released the latest edition of the 2025 Henry Passport Index, which evaluates the world’s most powerful passports.

Based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), passports from all 199 countries and regions of the world are ranked according to the number of visa-free destinations. According to the report, Singapore is ranked No. 1, moving out of the top six countries, including Japan, which shared the top spot last year, and regaining the top spot alone (visa-free entry to 195 destinations; same as below).

Japan is in second place, and still holds a higher rank than other countries (193 destinations), as visa exemptions for entry into neighboring China will resume in 2024 for the first time since the lockdown of the Corona disaster.

In third place are France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, and South Korea (192 destinations); in fourth place are Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden (191 destinations); tied for fifth place are Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (190 destinations). 190 destinations) are tied for fifth place.

Other countries in sixth place are Australia (189 destinations), Canada (188 destinations) in seventh place, and the United States (186 destinations) in ninth place. The UAE is the only Arab country in the top 10 (185 destinations), and is one of the countries that has seen the greatest increase in the index over the past 10 years, climbing 32 places since last year to enter the top 10 for the first time. The lowest ranked country remains Afghanistan.
