JR West Announces Plan to Operate “Hanaakari” Sightseeing Train in Spring 2025. Proposal to combine with Osaka/Kansai Expo.

Posted on 2025-01-162025-02-20 by Editor in Chief

JR West Japan announced its sightseeing train “Hanaakari” operation plan for the spring season of 2025.

The concept of this train is “to gather local flowers on the train and connect customers with the local community.” The train will operate throughout western Japan, connecting Osaka to Onomichi in about 5.5 hours. It is said that passengers can enjoy a relaxing and luxurious trip to the Setouchi area, including Himeji, Kurashiki, Fukuyama, and Onomichi, as well as a plus-one trip to Osaka and the Kansai Expo.

Three attendants will be on board to sell beverages, Hanaakari goods, and local souvenirs. In addition, on some schedules, there are opportunities for interaction between passengers and the community, such as welcoming them at stations and selling locally produced goods on board the train.

Other food services using unique local ingredients will be available only for advance reservations, and some special travel products will be sold through “tabiwa travel”.
