NEXCO East Japan will conduct demonstration experiments of parking lots inside interchanges at the Sakuragawa-Chikusei Interchange on the Kita-Kanto Expressway and the Namie Interchange on the Joban Expressway as a countermeasure for the blank sections of rest facilities where the distance between rest facilities is 35 km or more.
The Sakuragawa Chikusei IC and Namie IC are located in a blank section with no rest facilities for approximately 48 km and 50 km, respectively, and by using the administrative site as a temporary parking lot, a favorable driving environment and rest opportunities will be provided. The inner parking lot at Sakuragawa-Chikusei IC will start operation at 15:00 on February 10, and the start of operation at Namie IC will be announced later.
The Sakuragawa Chikusei IC will have 2 parking spaces for large vehicles (12m or less in length) and 3 spaces for small vehicles, and the Namie IC will have 2 spaces for large vehicles and 2 spaces for small vehicles. The only facilities available are restrooms.
