The Metropolitan Expressway will close the Expressway Yaesu Line to traffic for a long period of time from 20:00 on April 5, 2025 to 2035 due to the construction of the undergrounding project of the Nihonbashi section and the new Kyobashi connecting road. In addition, the company also announced that the Tokyo Expressway (KK Line) will be discontinued as of the same date and time.
In addition to the ongoing Nihonbashi section undergrounding project, the Metropolitan Expressway will begin construction of the Shin-Kyobashi connecting road in FY2025. After the construction is completed, in FY2035 (planned), a new central ring route will be created, and the KK line, which will be discontinued, will be regenerated and utilized as a pedestrian-oriented public space.
