The cumulative number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Mongolia is 61,396 and the number of deaths is 288 (as of June 3, 2021, according to the country’s Ministry of Health). Mongolia has positioned vaccination as the top priority in the fight against novel coronaviruses, and has begun procurement of vaccines and vaccination of priority recipients.
However, there is a lack of cold chain (Note 1) equipment such as vaccine transport vehicles and refrigerators for transport, testing equipment such as antigen test kits, and epidemiological research equipment such as next-generation sequencers (Note 2), making their maintenance an urgent issue.
This cooperation will help establish an effective and safe vaccination system in Mongolia by providing the necessary equipment for vaccination, thereby contributing to the improvement of the vaccination coverage in Mongolia and the early control of new coronavirus infections.
(Note 1) Cold chain: Method of moving medical supplies while keeping them fresh.
(Note 2) Next-generation sequencer: A device for high-speed and high-volume decoding of base sequences, which represent the order in which the bases that make up DNA are joined together.
