Tateyama Kurobe Kanko will distribute snow removal information on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a mountain tourism route connecting Toyama and Nagano prefectures, on its official website and SNS every Tuesday at 10:00.
Six different vehicles, including cable cars, buses, and ropeways, can be used to travel between Tateyama Station in Toyama Prefecture and Ogisawa Station in Nagano Prefecture. 2025 is scheduled to run from April 15 to November 30 (tentative).
In preparation for the full opening of the Tateyama Kogen Bus Road on April 15, snow removal along the Tateyama Toll Road, on which buses travel, is underway for a total length of 31.3 km from the Fuji Bridge area at the foot of Tateyama to Murodo. This year, snow removal work began on February 11, and as of March 10, one lane of snow removal had been completed up to the Nanamagari area.
In addition, because of the overall snowfall this year, including a record snowfall of 740 cm at Murodo, which is 2,450 m above sea level (compared to 710 cm during the same period last year), it is expected to surpass last year’s snow wall height of 14 m, the highest point of the snow wall.
Mikurigaike Pond, located within a 15-minute walk from the Murodo Terminal, is said to be the most beautiful volcanic lake in the Northern Alps, and is popular for its beautiful scenery of magnificent mountains reflected on the lake surface. The area around the lake is also home to a cluster of Japanese white pine trees, which makes it a good spot for spotting grouse.
