The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) concluded a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the government of the Republic of Liberia for the “Japan Freeway Extension Project” in Monrovia, the capital of the Republic of Liberia, on March 12, 2024. (A Grant Agreement (G/A) for a grant of up to 43 million yen has already been concluded in March 2024 for the detailed design of this project).

Business Objectives
This project will rehabilitate the existing four lanes (two lanes in each direction) between the west end of the Japan Freeway and the north end of the Gabriel Tucker Bridge, thereby ensuring smooth and safe road traffic in the subject section and contributing to the revitalization of human flow and logistics in the Monrovia Metropolitan Area and Liberia.

- facilities, equipment, etc.: raising the existing 4 lanes (2 lanes per side), removal of existing pavement and pavement work (from 150 m north of the intersection at the west end of Japan Freeway to Gabriel Tucker Bridge section: 2.15 km), complete road ancillary facilities including drainage facilities (pipe culvert culvert, catch basin)

consulting services/software component details: detailed design, bidding assistance, construction supervision, and technical guidance through the software component (maintenance and management methods of the project section, cleaning of related drainage facilities)
