Uber Japan launched its “Uber Taxi” vehicle dispatch service at Itami Airport on March 19. This is the second location in the Kansai region, following Kansai International Airport, for the purpose of responding to the rapid increase in the number of foreign and domestic visitors to the Osaka area.
Uber Taxi is a service that allows users to dispatch cabs via the Uber app. With the launch in Itami, the app now automatically selects a cab stand when Itami Airport is set as the boarding point.
To use Uber Taxi, first enter your ride location and destination on the Uber app and request a ride. The cab will then be matched with a nearby cab and arrive at your location. If a credit card or other payment method is pre-registered in the app, the fare is automatically calculated and the driver can get out of the cab without leaving.
In addition to a chat function that allows users to converse with matched drivers, the application is also equipped with an automatic translation function compatible with approximately 50 languages worldwide, enabling even foreign visitors to Japan to have smooth conversations with drivers.
The company will also offer benefits such as priority matching with highly rated drivers and Uber One credits worth 10% of the fare of a ride by subscribing to the “Uber One” subscription service program.
