On April 9, ANA announced new Premium Economy Class and Economy Class seats for international flights. The new seats will be gradually introduced on Boeing 787-9 aircraft starting in fiscal 2026.
Both new seats are made by RECARO Aircraft Seating of Germany and are said to be ergonomically designed for comfort on long-haul flights. They also feature a large personal monitor, storage space, USB Type-C charging port, and Bluetooth audio capabilities.
In Premium Economy, the seat pitch has been increased by 2 inches (approximately 5 cm) to 40 inches (approximately 101 cm), which is one of the highest in the world, according to the company. The seat recline has been increased by 2 inches to 9 inches (approx. 23 cm).
On the other hand, in economy class, the 33-34 inch seat pitch has been maintained, while the knee area has been improved to provide 1 inch more space than before. The amount of seat recline has also been increased by 2 inches to 6 inches (approximately 15 cm), which is 1.5 times greater than the previous model, resulting in the world’s top class seat pitch and recline amount.
