The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) with the government of the Dominican Republic on April 9 in Santo Domingo, the capital of the country, for the “Agricultural Finance Improvement Project for Strengthening Food Value Chain”. This project will contribute to the development of the country’s agricultural sector by providing loans through agricultural banks to small and medium-sized agricultural businesses and cooperatives, and by improving the capacity of agricultural banks.

(a) Sub-loans: Concessional loans to small and medium-sized and smaller agricultural businesses and cooperatives through agricultural banks.
(b) Consulting services: advice on business management, capacity building of agricultural bank branches and agricultural extension agents, capacity building of small and medium size and smaller agricultural businesses and associations, etc.
