The Asahi Shimbun will hold the exhibition “Tove and the Moomins: In Search of Something Special” (organized by the Helsinki Municipal Art Museum and supported by the Embassy of Finland) at Mori Arts Center Gallery (Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, 6-10-1 Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo). The exhibition will run from July 16 to September 17.
The exhibition will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the publication of the Moomin novels, and will feature approximately 300 items including early oil paintings by Tove Jansson, caricatures from before and after World War II, original drawings and sketches from Moomin novels and comics, and personal effects of the creator of the Moomins. Other exhibits at the venue include a production that allows visitors to experience the world of the Moomins and an introduction to Tove’s murals, which are not well known in Japan.
Tickets go on sale June 17 at 12:00 p.m. at Asobu! and Mori Building Online Tickets. In addition to regular tickets, a limited number of tickets for the exhibition’s original goods set (two types) will be available at AssoView! (will close when the number of tickets reserved has been reached).
