The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire for two projects totaling up to 37,028 million yen on May 25 in Abidjan.
The two projects covered by the yen loan agreements signed this time are as follows.
(1) Emergency support loan for response to the crisis of new coronavirus infection (Loan amount: 15 billion yen)
(2) Turbo Kosu Buaque Power Grid Strengthening Project (Loan amount: 22,028 million yen)

(1) Emergency support loans for crisis response to new coronavirus infection
COVID-19 Crisis Response Emergency Support Loan
(a) Purpose and outline of business
Through financial assistance, this project will support the steady implementation of policies implemented by the Government of Cote d’Ivoire, including COVID-19 measures, improving access to quality health care services, and strengthening health financing and governance.
(2) Turbo Kosu Buaque Power Grid Reinforcement Project
Taabo-Kossou-Bouake Power Network Reinforcement Project
(a) Purpose and outline of business
The project involves the construction of additional transmission lines, new and expanded substations, and the development of a power distribution network between Turbot, Kossou, and Bouaké in central Côte d’Ivoire.
