The “Gray” model of the spacious 2-room tent, the fourth collaboration between Alpen and Coleman, is now on sale. What is the reason why it does not feel oppressive?

Posted on 2025-07-032025-07-03 by Editor in Chief

Prior to the announcement, an exhibition for the press was held at the flagship store “Alpen TOKYO” (3-23-7 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), where Daisuke Koshida, advisory staff of the Sales Group, Sales Division, Coleman Division, Newell Brands Japan, LLC, gave an explanation.

The new product is a limited color “gray” model of the Tough 2 Room DX/3025, a standard 2 room tent model. It is limited to 600 tents and handled at Alpen Outdoors stores nationwide as well as at Sports Depot, Alpen, and official online stores. At the same time, the 2024 limited edition “Tuff Screen 2 Room Air LDX” (color: Desert Sand) will also be reissued and resold. This one will be limited to 700 tents.

Alpen, a sports and outdoor goods retailer, will release a family tent jointly developed with Coleman from its private brand “Alpen Outdoors” on July 18. The collaboration between the two companies began in 2021, and this is the fourth in the series.

Tough 2 Room DX/3025 (Gray)

Coleman’s 2024 “glaze” color was changed to an Alpine-exclusive gray.

The spacious living space and bedroom (inner tent) are combined in a two-room structure, and as the model number indicates, the bedroom measures 3.0 x 2.5 meters, providing enough space for four adults to sleep. In terms of features, the tent is equipped with a roof flysheet to block sunlight, and a full skirt to prevent wind and rain from entering the tent is also standard.

This full skirt “has a function other than protecting against cold winds,” and “when it rains heavily, it keeps rainwater from ricocheting into the inside from below, and in hot weather, it can considerably reduce insect infiltration,” while “ventilation from below is slightly reduced. On the other hand, it “has a little less ventilation from the bottom.” For this reason, he explained, “This is a product for customers who might want to try camping in slightly chilly weather or until the first half of December.

In terms of livability, while the TuffScreen 2 Room uses five poles to set up, this one has one additional pole on the front side for a total of six, making the entrance area higher and improving access to the living room. Furthermore, the bedrooms are generally trapezoidal in shape, narrowing toward the ceiling, but the secret to their comfort is that they are almost rectangular in shape, so that “even if four adults sleep in them, the people at the ends do not feel too oppressed,” he explained.

He also stated that there is space to install electric fan ventilation (sold separately) in a total of three locations in the living room and bedroom, allowing airflow and ventilation for a comfortable stay.
