Sneak into the Panasonic Pavilion “Nomo no Kuni. The story changes with your facial expressions and actions, gather the light and meet the self you don’t know yet!

Panasonic Holdings is exhibiting the Panasonic Group Pavilion “Nomo-no-Kuni” in the East Gate Zone of Expo 2010 Osaka-Kansai until October 13. Nomo-no-kuni is one of the “private sector pavilions” created by companies in Japan by bringing together their respective fields of expertise and technologies. Many people may be interested in Panasonic, which once exhibited the “Matsushita Pavilion” at the 1970 Japan World Exposition in Osaka. We have now visited and experienced the pavilion, and report on our visit.

Overview of the Pavilion Nomo-no-kuni is a world where things and minds are mirrored in a mirror. There is an “Unlock Experience Area” where each group can visit four zones, and an “Earth” area where visitors can freely view exhibits. The highlight of the experience area is that each visitor can unlock his/her own potential to change the world (Unlock) by unleashing his/her mind (sensitivity) and body (senses) with one “crystal device” in his/her hand. The performance of unlocking the device changes depending on the user’s behavior data and facial expressions during the experience, and as many as 160 patterns have been prepared. It is recommended to enjoy it multiple times at different times, or to share the results with your family or group. For more details on the story, an original animation is available on YouTube, so be sure to check it out before you visit. For those who “want to go but can’t make reservations” or “can’t visit the site but are curious about the atmosphere,” content is also available at the virtual venue, East Gate Island (E06). Panasonic Group Pavilion “Nomo-no-Kuni” Location: East Gate Zone, Company Pavilion E06-01

Operating hours: 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Time required: approx. 60 min.

Admission: By appointment only

*Subject to lottery 2 months in advance, lottery 7 days in advance, first-come, first-served reservations for available slots, and same-day registration

*After 8:15 p.m., no viewing in some free viewing areas.

Unlock Experience Area ZONE 1 “Deep Inside Kagamiike” Zone 1 is the place where visitors are immersed in another world, where a group of about 30 people gather in the center of the room to sharpen their senses through 3D sound, light, and vibration. The room is dark and quiet until the performance begins, so some of the children were a little scared at first, but halfway through, they seemed curious to see what the next performance would be like.

Unlock Experience Area ZONE 2 “Nomo no Mori” Next, in Zone 2, each visitor took a crystal device and explored a mysterious forest that expressed the circulation of light with a free spirit. Everyone, regardless of age, was absorbed in collecting more and more light as new light and sound were created by holding the crystals over trees and rocks.

Unlock Experience Area ZONE 3 “Valley of Old Trees” After collecting light in the forest, visit the “Valley of Old Trees” zone. By holding your own crystal over the old tree booth, you can learn about “new possibilities” based on your senses (Kokoro). In the case of the reporter, she says that she is “full of the power to feel beauty” and is able to “follow the wonders of things to the end. Kokoro was transformed into a yellow-pink butterfly by the power of crystals.
